8-Happy ending

This time last year, things weren't going too well for me. I'd failed one exam at school, and I also had an argument with my best friend. Friends invited me out, but I didn't really want to see them. I spent a lot of time on the computer playing games.

Everything changed for me the day I saw a programme about the people of the third world . The programme talks about poverty. When I saw this I realized that I should be a bit more positive.

These days, I fell much happier. If I hadn't seen the programme, I'd never had the opportunity.

11-Summary Gladiator

In AD 180, Maximus leads the Roman army to a decisive victory against the Germanic tribes. Marcos Aurelius is old and dies, although he has a son, Commodus, he asks Maximus to succeed him as a regent and turn Rome back to a republic. When the emperor speaks with Commodus and he explained the decision, Commodus decided to kill the emperor.

Commodus decided to kill Maximus wife and son. Maximus managed to escape his own execution, but he finds his wife and son dead. Maximus is taken to Zucchabar, where is sold to a man called Proximo, who uses him as a gladiator.

Maximus is forced to fight in local tournaments. When he fights in the Coliseum, he upset their opponents. He wins a lot of battles day by day and he showed how corrupt Commodous was. He inspired roman people to rediscover their values and hoping. These actions ended with a fight in the Coliseum between Commodus and Maximus. Finally, the miserable Commodus died on the hands of Maximus.

1- Summer holidays

MY LAST SUMMER HOLYDAYS:

Hello my name is Jordi, I'm fifteen, and today I'm going to talk about my last summer holydays. First I went to London, second I went to Bordeaux, finally I stayed at home and I prepared for the school.

First of all I went to London; I stayed three days, with my cousin and my uncle. There I visited a lot of monuments and museums like: Big Ben, Buckingham palace, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Tate and the British museum. My favorite museum is the British museum, because I like the mummies. There I practiced my English.

After that, I went fishing with Enric in my uncle boat. We started at 8 o’clock and we finished at 2 o’clock. We spent all the morning fishing. Then we had breakfast. After that we swam into the sea. We had a lot of fun, we have to repeat it.

Then I went to Bordeaux with my family. There I visited the largest dune in Europe: It was amazing, because the dune is between the forest and the Atlantic Ocean. It was the best thing that I visited in Bordeaux. I also visited the Garonne River. After that I visited two Chateaus. In the Chateaus I saw how they made the famous Bordeaux wine. Then I visited the Bordeaux centre: the Bordeaux opera, the cathedral and the biggest square in Europe.

Finally I stayed in Banyoles and I met my friends every day in the tennis club or in Banyoles Lake. After that I prepared for school I bought the new school material including the new English books.

9-Trip to Italy

Two weeks ago we spent five days in Italy, we visited: Pisa, Firenze and Rome.

When we arrived in Pisa's airport (Galileo Galilei), we took a bus to the center. Then we saw the Cathedral, the baptisteries and the liening tower. These three monuments are in the Piazza del Miracoli. After that we went to have lunch. In the afternoon we caught a bus to Firenze.

When we arrived there we saw the Firenze sight.Then we went to the center, where we saw: The Duomo, the Ponte Veccio and the Piazza della Signoria. After that we had dinner . Then we had a walk around the center. Finally we went to the hotel and we went to bed. The second day in Firenze, we visited the Uffzi Gallery, the cathedral l and the “David” in the Academy. In the afternoon we had free time. In the night we had dinner and we went to walk around the center.

The next day we caught an express train to Rome. We stayed there for three days. The first day There we saw the Piazza della Republica, the typing machine, Fontana di Trevi, and the Pantheon. The second day we visited the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Basilica, including the copula. Then we visited la Piazza Spagna, and we went shooping in La Via Condotti. The third day we visited the Coliseum, and we had lunch in front of the Coliseum. Finally we took a bus and we went to the Rome airport. There we take a flight to Barcelona.

6-An opinion essay

In our area, there are a lot of schools but there aren’t home schools. I disagree that the people study and have classes in its home.

In my opinion, home schooling isn’t good for several reasons. Firstly, there isn’t relationship with other people. Secondly, I think that is easier to distract than a normal school. Finally, there aren’t different points of views.

So all in all, I think that it isn’t a good think to have home schooling, and for that reason I don’t think that home schooling is better than the normal school.

3-Plans for a visit

I’m just writing to check that everything’s OK for your visit.

I think you’ll like Banyoles. On Saturday morning, we’re going to walk around the lake with my parents because they really want to show you the town. We’ll be free in the evening, so we’ll probably meet some of my friends, and we can go to dinner in “La Plaça Major”. It’s up to you.

On Sunday, we could get a bus to Girona. There I’m going to show to you the Girona center. It’s gorgeous because there’re some small, thin and old streets. After that we’re going to the “Espai Gironès”, and then we will shop.

We’re going to meet you at the airport tomorrow, so can you remind me what time your train gets in?

5-About me and my view of the world

My name is Jordi Brunsó and I’m student in Casa Nostra School in Banyoles. I’m interested in new technologies and in Tennis. Some of my friends are into tennis too. The people who I spent most time with are my mates Bernat, Pol and my sister Maria. The Thing which I like best is going by skate with my friends.

I don’t think that the world is a bad place, although I think we could improve if we reduce the pollution of the Earth. There aren’t many things that make me angry, but one thing that annoys me is when people are selfish and rude.

As s as the future I concerned, it sometimes worries me that this world have a lots of inequality. I find it a bit unfair. I’m optimistic about my own future though. In a few years’ time, I see myself studying my university degree in Barcelona.

4-History of a product

Ford cars got their name because the founder was Henry Ford. Ford was founded in 1903, in Detroit (Michigan).  Ford was one of the first brands to produce luxury cars during the 20th century. Also produce cheaper cars like, Model A, so a lot of people could afford it.
Cars became more popular during the 1960s and Ford was one of the best brands. Ford also invented the muscle cars, for example the Mustang. The mustang has a lot of rivals like: Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger… But any of these models have the same exit than the mustang.
These days, ford produce a lot of models like: Ka, Focus, Fiesta, Kuga, Mondeo, Mustang…Ford is a powerful motor company, is popular over the world. All the people have seen a Ford.

2- Account of a decade

The 2000s decade was a decade which people remember for many important events. There were good times and happy events such as the first black USA president. There were also difficult times, like the wold trade centre terrorist attack.

In the world of music there was a lot pop artist like Katy Perry, Rihannna, Lady Gaga, Madonna and Britney  Spears. These artist came to dominate the top 40 radio. Avatar, Harry Potter and the lord of the rings were big hits.

By the end of the decade, the world was a different place. Because the worst crisi in history started. Inventions like the Smartphone and the social networks facilitate communication. Technology advance quickly, and some people are obsessed about the new technologies.

I’d like to recommend a book which I read recently, called The Knight in Rusty amour. The author of the book is Robert Fischer.

The book is an adventures book and the setting is in the middle ages. The main character is the knight. The knight fights in the crusades.

The things I liked most about the book are that the Knight has to pass psychological test to quit his rusty armor. The plot is quite difficult but is for our age.

All in all, I really liked the novel, and though it has got a happy ending, I wouldn’t change it, because Robert Fischer is an important author.

Dear Sir or Madam

I represent a group called “Students Against Motorways”. I am writing to you because we are concerned about plans to build a motorway and close a park in our area.

In our opinion, the motorway is very noisy and causes a lot of pollution, so if there is one near our town, the residents will leave the zone. If we have a motorway here, it will be a problem for the wildlife. It is better to conserve the parks and green zone to avoid the pollution.

We have therefore decided to take action, and we are going to organize a protest. For this reason, we are sending in you a poster and we hope that you will support us and help to publicize this event.

Students Against Motorway

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi was born in 1987. First he went to la Masia of Football Club Barcelona where the young footballers learn how to play good football. Afterthat, the coach of the first team called him to play with them.

His first debut was in 2003, at the age of 16. He has won a lot of prizes as a personal player and also as a member of the first team. For example, he won four Gold Ballons and some UEFA Champions League. He is a successful footballer. Now days, he has been in a lot of advertisement like Adidas and bread Bimbo.

GIVE AND OPINION

I agree that internet is an addiction because the people spent much time in the internet searching something or in the chats rooms.

Firstly the people spent much time online. Some people are all the time online and forget to do things as simple as eating.

In addition people get fat because they haven’t done any physic activities. This affects the population because every time there is more people with overweight.

Finally a lot of teenagers need to be online all the time with the computers or the smart phones. Some teenagers are all the day chatting with his computers or smart phones.

In conclusion people should try to not be so many hours online.

Frankenstein is an important story because was the first science fiction story and talk about create human live. The moral of this story is that when you have a challenge, and are obsessed with getting the challenge you have to be sure that it doesn’t affect the other persons. This moral is so important and it’s good to remember it for live well.

Hi I’m Jordi and my dreams are: Study mechanic engineer and have a healthy life. My first dream is to study mechanic engineer. Pol Molera and I are friends. Pol lives near my house in Banyoles. He lives in a big flat. We go to the same school.

Pol is fourteen year old. He’s quite tall and he’s got long fair hair. The good thing about him is that he’s very funny and he tells us a lot of jokes. He hates getting up early.

Pol is keen on playing basketball. He likes playing computer games and playing basketball. We go to the school together by bicycle. He likes riding on his mountain bike.

TV Highlights

TV Highlights 

The highlight of this week’s TV was definitely the soap opera CMM. This programme is about tree detective that investigate a lot of cases, it’s really good I like it a lot.

Telecinco talent show La Voz: This programme is about Spanish people that sing really good. The jury has a lot of work because people sing very well. Sometimes the people sing so well and I get excited.

Finally, the documentary How it’s made. This programme shows you how the factories make any object. It’s very interesting because you can see how it made an object that you have in your hands. I recommend it.
